Highway rules in the midwest

When the large signs above say Pay Toll ahead, do you really have to?  what if you do not have EZ Pass, but you opt to speed under the the EZ pass archway and not go through the CASH ONLY lane?  Out here, you do not even have to slow down to less than 80 MPH to go through EZ Pass.  We had a schedule to keep........
